Fundraising Services


Montgomery Consulting, Inc. helps nonprofit organizations to plan and implement more effective and efficient fundraising programs.  Our emphasis is on helping clients build permanent fundraising capacity and sustainable growth, including: more engaged Boards, better-trained staff, more efficient fundraising programs, and donor bases that are larger, more diverse and more generous.

Development Assessments -- A fundraising assessment gives an organization an external professional evaluation of its fundraising program and identifies specific opportunities to improve results.  An assessment can be done in order to just "tune up" an organization's ongoing fundraising program to make it more effective or to prepare for a major new campaign. With a long history of advising organizations of many different types, we can efficiently evaluate most fundraising programs and produce clear and very practical recommendations for improvement. 

 

Campaign Planning

The best way for some groups to meet their fundraising needs is to launch a major campaign.  Done well, such campaigns not only helps meet immediate needs but creates sustainable fundraising capacity that continues to benefit the organization long after the campaign itself is over.  We’ve been on the planning team for annual and longer term campaigns with a combined goal well in excess of $1 billion.



Grant Seeking
 from foundations and units of government-- Mike Montgomery may be the only consultant in this region 
to have been a grant maker, seeker and evaluator. That combination of experiences gives him a broad perspective that benefits clients at every stage of the process, including: prospecting & research, cultivation, project planning, proposal writing, and designing and implementing evaluation & reporting systems.


Corporate giving, sponsorship and cause-related marketing
-- We help our clients find the money they need to do their important work in an increasingly competitive fundraising market.  One of the ways we do that is to work with organizations to improve the value proposition they offer business supporters and better equip them to seek business support of any and all forms that might be available. 


Board/Staff Fundraising Training

We create and present custom training programs that can get a board to finally embrace fundraising,  teach “hands on” fundraising skills to key staff and/or energize a whole agency around fundraising. We have developed a modular Advocacy and Fundraising training program for Board Members that is described in more detail in a new publication (click here for a .pdf of that publication).




Strategic & Program Planning 
-- We support client strategic planning efforts through meeting facilitation, technical/economic analysis and document preparation. For more information on our involvement in strategic planning, also see the Economic Development section of our website and that part of the selected projects list.


Licensing and Registration -- Montgomery Consulting currently offers fundraising consulting services in the states of Michigan and Ohio and is qualified for licensing in all jurisdictions that require it.
